Prof. Dr. Christian Aders
Prof. Dr. Christian Aders is the Chairman of the Executive Board of ValueTrust Financial Advisors SE. During his almost 25 years in financial advisory, he gained extensive business experience conducting a wide variety of valuation and corporate finance projects.
His wealth of expertise encompasses advising clients on takeovers, mergers, acquisitions and delistings as well as on restructurings and reorganizations of companies. Furthermore, he is a well-respected valuation expert on issues related to accounting, business plan development and value management as well as on disputes and litigation.
Chris's extensive project experience includes valuations of complex business enterprises, the valuation of tangible and intangible assets, the assessment of corporate strategies, the valuation of debt in the context of debt-to-equity swaps, valuations for taxation and reporting purposes as well as damage appraisals. He has also provided many fairness and independent expert opinions. Chris has advised on a broad range of M&A assignments – both on the buy side and the sell side – as well as in situations involving the valuation of distressed companies and financial restructurings.
Chris started his professional career in 1993 at KPMG, after finishing his studies in business administration with a focus on audit and strategic management at the LMU Munich. He spent three years in KPMG’s audit department conducting audits, group audits, due diligence and business valuations before moving on to their Corporate Finance department where he worked from 1996 to 2006 and was promoted to Partner in 2000. In October 2006, Chris joined Duff & Phelps as Managing Director and built up their German practice. In 2007, Chris was one of the founders of ValueTrust, which at that time was an independent partner of Duff & Phelps. While at Duff & Phelps, he was the General Manager, responsible for the region of Germany, Austria and Switzerland and a Member in the European Leadership team. In June 2013, Chris continued his career by leading ValueTrust as independent financial advisory firm with a focus on valuation and corporate finance.
Chris received his academic degrees of Diplom-Kaufmann and Dr. oec. publ. from the LMU Munich. Since 2012, he is also Honorary Professor for “the practice of business valuation and value based management” at the LMU Munich. Chris has written many publications and regularly conducts presentations at conferences. Besides his native German, Chris is fluent in English.
He is a Certified EFFAS Financial Analyst (CEFA) and a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA). He is also a member of various professional organizations, namely, the European Federation of Financial Analysts Societies (EFFAS), the Society of Investment Professionals in Germany (DVFA), the DVFA Expert Groups “Fairness Opinions” and “Best Practice Recommendation Corporate Valuation” as well as the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA). Chris is a founding member of the European Association of Consultants, Valuators and Analysts (EACVA)-Germany.
